Every Business 4 Schools website is built using the same technology and uses the same basic template.
On the site you will find:
- Listings of services provided by members of your community with a summary of what each service is about, full contact details and links their business website (if they have one).
- An online auction facility where you can post up items for sale
- A reverse online auction facility where you can request items or services you need.
- A kids swop shop where children can swop stuff in a secure parent password protected environment. - We don't want the family BMW being swopped for an Action Man without you sanctioning the deal!
- Automatic email notifications every time a new service is added an item put up for sale or a service requested.
- A featured supplier on the home page
- Adverts and banners and more

The Business 4 Schools community of websites are owned and run by Web Resource Ltd - specialist designers and developers of online communities.
More information about the company and the people behind it can be found at www.webresourcelimited.com
How does it work?
There is no set revenue model that has to be followed - it is down to the specific community administrator(s) to set the commercial terms. Generally however sellers pay an annual fee for listing their business up on the community website and pay a percentage of any transaction that is conducted through the site to the school.
If items are sold through the online auction facility then a percentage of the sale price is also given to the school.
The underlying premise that makes the community concept work is trust. Thre is no sophisticated secure online payment mechanism to capture transactions - this would be prohibitively expensive and would attract charges that would reduce the revenue generated for the school.
Sellers and buyers notify the community administrator everytime a transaction takes place using the notification form on the site - the commission payment is then automatically calculated and added to the cumulative total displayed on the site for all to see.
An invoice is generated by the community administrator and the fiunds are paid directly to the school.

"
I have been a member of the Holmesdale School Busines Network (www.hsbnet.com) for a matter of weeks and have already found it to be an invaluable source of reliable services. I have already booked a holiday through the network and have sold a number of unwanted items to other community members.
It is good to know that my activity generates money for the school and that my children will benefit as a result.
